Rye’s Linking Handlebars Joining with Others to Distribute Bikes to Kids in Need

Linking Handlebars, a local group started by Rye High School students, is teaming up with a couple other organizations to distribute bicycles to under-served kids. In 2012, the group donated 32 bicycles to kids in need.

Here is news on their current project:

On Saturday, October 25th from 10am-2pm, 5 local organizations and businesses will distribute bicycles to Westchester’s underserved children at Hope Community Services, 50 Washington Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10801.

Miller's Bike Shop, WCC Bikes4Kids, and Linking Handlebars collected and refurbished all the bikes to be provided free to children on a first come, first serve basis (one bike per family). All three organizations have an extensive history of distributing bikes to local children.

“It’s great to have the opportunity to expand our distribution reach by joining up with Miller’s Bike Shop and Bikes4Kids allowing us to build on our successful track record and mission to help children in need through the gift of a bicycle,” said Jenna Cammisa, secretary and co-founder of Linking Handlebars.

Linking Handlebars is a not-for profit organization committed to promoting healthier lifestyles for children in need through the gift of a bicycle. We collect gently used bicycles monetary donations to purchase new bicycles and helmets and to refurbish used bicycles. We provide children the opportunity to experience all the benefits of cycling including exercise, transportation, and enjoyment of the great outdoors.
