Rye Prez Has Pistons and Pipes III, Sunday, November 16 at 4pm
Rye Prez Has Pistons and Pipes III, Sunday, November 16 at 4pm:
Is there a more irresistible musical combination than brass instruments and the pipe organ? Rye Presbyterian Church's November musical offering, "Pistons and Pipes," is sure to win over even the most skeptical.
The brilliance of tone shared by brass instruments (particularly trumpets) and the organ lends itself to many exciting musical possibilities in the music of Bach, Albinoni, Charpentier, Franck, Gabrieli, Handel and others. The first part of this festive and varied program will feature music for two Baroque trumpets and organ; the second part will include selections for brass quintet and organ.
The performers will be among the finest brass players in the New York area. The concert has been generously underwritten by Nancy G. Richards in honor of her late husband, Dr. Ernest Richards, a prominent local physician and music lover.
All are welcome; there is no charge for admission and a reception in the Library will follow the program. Rye Presbyterian Church, Main Sanctuary, 882 Boston Post Road.
