Rye High School is pleased to congratulate seniors Morgan E. Cobban, Judson A. Ellis, Caleb K. Glassberg, Bonnie F. Gould, and Chloe M. Jennings on their selection as 2015 National Merit Scholarship winners. The students earned this distinction based on their academic records, the school’s curricula and grading system, test scores, written recommendations, participation in activities and leadership and essays. They will be awarded scholarship dollars based on their academic achievement. The students and their awards are below:

  • Morgan E. Cobban – National Merit Arizona State University Scholarship
  • Judson A. Ellis – National Merit Scholarship Corporation
  • Caleb K. Glassberg – National Merit University of Vermont Scholarship
  • Bonnie F. Gould – National Merit MetLife Foundation
  • Chloe M. Jennings – National Merit Scholarship Corporation

This past fall, all five were named National Merit Semifinalists based on the results of their PSATs, which serve as the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. In September, the District acknowledged their accomplishment with Rye Recognition of Excellence Awards during a Board of Education Meeting. Also recognized at that meeting were 17 National Merit Commended Students and two National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars. In February, the five seniors were notified that they had achieved finalist status.

The five scholarship winners are among approximately 7,600 students throughout the nation who received Merit Scholarship awards. The National Merit Scholarship Program has been recognizing students for academic success since 1955. For more information, visit: https://www.nationalmerit.org/nmsp.php
