40 Artists Paint Rye on October 3rd
One of Rye's best traditions, in its 13th year, the all day plein-air paint-out on Saturday, October 3:
Get ready, the artists are coming! And they’re not only painting the town, but the parks, the beaches, the landmarks, the buildings, the landscapes, the seascapes, and more. This year, 40 professional artists from the East Coast and Tri-State areas will paint scenes of the Sound Shore in an all day plein-air paint-out on Saturday, October 3.
Once the paintings are completed, the artists will return to The Rye Art Center with their wet works for a reception and live auction. Additional works by the participating artists are currently on view in The Rye Arts Center’s Gallery, and will be available in a silent auction closing directly after the live auction.
“Painters on Location offers the unique opportunity to experience the life of a painting from creation to sale.” said Jim Langley who is co-chairing the event along with his wife Marielle Jan de Beur. “You can meet the artists, and through their work, see Rye and the surrounding area from their perspective.”
“Now in its 13th year, Painters On Location is The Rye Arts Center’s signature event. It is a wonderful tradition that celebrates our community through art,” said Meg Rodriguez, Executive Director. “The auctions (both live and silent) are a spectacular way to build an art collection with beautiful paintings and personal memories.”
The event, sponsored by Houlihan Lawrence, is free and open to the public. Artists will be painting from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. A reception to view the wet works and meet the artists (catered by Chopped Champion Silvia Baldini!) will take place at The Rye Arts Center 4:30 – 6:00 pm. The live auction will begin at 6:15 pm. Bidding paddles are $20.
