10000 Maniacs RYC

Details on the fundraiser:

RYE, N.Y. (September 14, 2015) – Hoping to create “Days You’ll Remember”, the Rye Youth Council announced today that tickets are now on sale for its first ever Benefit Concert, featuring the alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs, at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester on November 20. Proceeds from the concert will support the social-emotional learning programs and services offered by the Rye Youth Council to the children and families in the community.

The evening’s festivities will begin at 7pm with a pre-concert party with an open bar, food, and a live and silent auction.

This year the concert will replace the traditional RYC fundraiser, the annual MVP (honoring Rye’s Most Valuable People) Gala, usually held in January. Board President Lisa Dominici Faries emphasizes that the beloved Gala is sure to return in the future.

We work closely with the schools, parents and community to create positive goals and to provide a safe, caring environment for all our young people.

About 10,000 Maniacs

One of the most critically acclaimed bands of the last three decades, the band 10,000 Maniacs was founded in the fall of 1981. Together with artists like R.E.M. they defined college rock and created the first wave of alternative rock bands and what became know as the alternative rock format on FM radio. By producing, manufacturing and marketing their own recordings, the 10,000 Maniacs were one of the original “indie” bands before signing with Elektra Records.
