Rye Resident Brings Gold in Pan Am Junior Games in Cuba
Rye Resident Carolina Sculti brought home gold for diving at the junior Pan Am championships in Cuba:
"Carolina Sculti continues to dive to new heights.
A YMCA of Greenwich Marlins diver, Sculti won the gold medal in the girls 14-15 year-old 1-meter diving event at the Junior Pan Am Championships Friday in Matanzas, Cuba. Sculti, a Rye, N.Y., resident, placed first in the event, which featured divers from 10 countries, with a score of 333.45.
“It was really exciting, I dove well for myself,” Sculti told USA Diving. “I didn’t miss anything. I was consistent and I felt good.”
A member of the USA Junior National Squad, Sculti represented Team USA at the Junior Pan Am Championships. Olivia Chamandy of Canada (323.15) and Tanya Boychuk, also of Canada (314) claimed the silver and bronze medals, respectively in the girls 14-15 1-meter diving event."
