Rye Schools: Social Media Threat Not Credible

Rye City Schools are reporting a threat directed at Rye High students on social media is not credible, according to Rye PD:

Dear RCSD Parents and Guardians, Faculty and Staff:

Late last night, the Rye Police Department notified the School District that a threat, directed at Rye High School students and posted to social media, had been investigated and found not to be credible.
While we understand the desire for more information, please be aware this is an active and ongoing police investigation.

In the event that the individual who made the threat is found to be a student, there are disciplinary procedures outlined in our District Code of Conduct that would apply. A copy of the Code of Conduct may be found on the District website. In addition, the School District is bound by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) rules about privacy. In compliance with FERPA, the District would not be able to provide any specific information about disciplinary actions involving students.

If students have any concerns related to the incident, please encourage them to speak to an adult they are comfortable with. Teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, psychologists and social workers are available to speak with them. Contact information is in the school directory and on the school web site.
