Rye City School Budget Passes, Osborn Furnace Wins Support

The Rye City Schools budget passed tonight by a vote of 1,165 (or 76%) yes to 365 (or 24%) no.

Support to float a bond to replace the failed furnace at Obsorn School passed tonight by a vote of 1,224 (or 80%) yes to 300 (or 20%) no.

The uncontested school board seats were taken by Katy Keohane Glassberg with 1,206 votes and Jennifer Boyle with 1,270 votes.

One thousand four hundred and eight five voters cast votes today, 15% of the 9,735 eligible voters across Rye. School rep Sarah Derman said it was considered a good turn out, although not a high as last year when the vote was to approve an "over the cap" budget.

More background on the budget, the furnace and the candidates can be found here.
