Two Rye Residents Part of I-95 Seven Car Pile-up

Two Rye residents – 40 year old Peter Thomas and 12 year old Anabelle Thomas –  escaped serious injury Monday when they were caught in a seven car pile-up on I-95 in Branford, Connecticut. But a passenger in the car, 12 year old Reilly Traynor, is being treated for "severe life-threatening injuries".

"BRANFORD >> Connecticut State Police Tuesday were continuing to investigate a seven-car motor vehicle crash Monday that left several people hospitalized, including a 12-year-old girl who is facing life-threatening injuries.

The accident — which occurred on southbound Interstate 95 between exits 54 and 53 — happened after a box truck failed to come to a stop after six cars in front of the truck began to slow down, according to a news release. The crash, which occurred at 1:20 p.m. Monday, caused a chain reaction of collisions, officials said….

Reilly Traynor, whose address was not given, is being treated for severe life-threatening injuries, while Anabelle Thomas, of Rye, New York, is being treated for minor injuries. Both girls, who are 12, , were being treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital, according to the accident report.

Four adults — Jesse Delucca, 37, of Oradell, New Jersey; Peter Thomas, 40, of Rye, New York; Emma Godi, 18, of Chester; and James Ryan, 65, of Warwick, Rhode Island — were being treated for minor injuries at Yale-New Haven Hospital….

“We had multiple injured parties, some of whom were critically injured, trapped in their vehicles,” said Branford Deputy Fire Chief Michael Stackpole said. “It took our crews nearly 25 minutes to extricate one of the seriously injured pediatric patients from the vehicle she was riding in.”"
