Rye Loses Teacher Patti Caponera

Rye has lost Rye Middle School Patti Caponera. A note from Rye Midle School Principal Ann Edwards said "It pains me to tell you that our beloved Patti Caponera died on Saturday. Patti was a devoted wife and mother. She was a wonderful math teacher and cared very much for her students. She will be greatly missed."

A wake will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Thursday, October 13th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A memorial service will be held the next day Friday October 14 at Hawthorne Funeral Home at 10:30. (Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532.)

Obituary:

Patricia (Patti) Caponera, 55, of Valhalla, NY passed away on Oct. 9, 2016. Patti was a long-time resident of Valhalla with her loving husband of 36 years, Jeff Caponera. Patti leaves behind 4 daughters, Janice (Michael) Vuoso of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., Jamie (Christopher) Sutton of Kendall Park, N.J., Jody Caponera of East Windsor, N.J. and Clarissa Caponera of Philadelphia, P.A., as well as her parents, Vincent Palmiotto, Brenda (Patrick) Beadnell, siblings, Margo (John) Markowitz and Raymond (Christine) Palmiotto and many nieces and nephews. A teacher in Rye Middle School in Rye, NY, Patti will be remembered by her friends and family as a kind and generous woman who loved a competitive game of Scrabble and a good math joke. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at the Hawthorne Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 PM, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers donation in her name can be made to Rosary Hill Home, Hawthorne, NY would be appreciated.
