PSAT On Fire at Rye High
On Wednesday, students taking the PSAT were evacuated due to a smoke condition with 15 minutes remaining in their PSAT test.
The students returned, and finished the test after the all clear. It appears the College Board does not have an issue with the interrupted test.
Check out the school emails below.

Subject: MS/HS Campus Evacuated Briefly
Dear Parents and Guardians of Middle and High School Students:
The Middle and High School building evacuated late this morning due to a smoke condition in the High School kitchen. The Rye Fire Department responded promptly and the "all clear" was issued quickly.
The evacuation occurred during the administration of the PSAT test to the junior class. We are working with the College Board to address the interruption.
Thank you for your patience; the safety of our students, faculty and staff is always our first priority.
Sincerely,
Eric Byrne
Superintendent

Today during the PSAT exam we had a fire drill. There was an small issue in another part of the building that was quickly resolved. Students vacated the gym in an orderly and quiet manner. I am so proud of how they handled themselves.
We have been in touch with College Board to report this issue. Students were allowed to return to complete the last 15 minutes of the exam.
At this time, we have no indication that College Board has any issues with our explanation. We will be returning the finished exams and will expect the scores to be released in early December.
I want to thank the students and staff for their support of each other during this event. We were especially grateful to the Parents Organization for supplying a much welcomed lunch.
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
