Rye @ Yorktown – Friday, October 27 – 7:00PM Kick-Off (Section One Class A Semi-Final)

Oh my it’s just a-maize-ing that in the history of Rye football the Garnets have rarely encountered the YORKTOWN cornHUSKERS.

In fact the Green and White never germinated on Rye’s regular season schedule until the planting of 2015.  Interestingly including this week’s Section One Class A Semi-Final Playoff Game, Rye and the Huskers have been post-season adversaries in each of the last five years while only playing twice in the regular season.

There are striking symmetries to the 2016 playoff match-up – (1) The contest appears as a semi-final round game, (2) Yorktown is the #1 seeded squad, (3) Rye is the # 5 seeded team and (4) the Huskers host on their plow-furrowed field.  One dissimilarity in 2017 – Rye will not yield 66 points to Yorktown and Yorktown will not allow 42 Rye points.  In this year’s regular season game the Huskers prevailed 34-30 on a Hail Mary reception just out of the reach of the Garnet defender.

For you Garnet fans, it’s time to mortgage the farmhouse as Rye harvests Yorktown 27-21 in an up-county barn-burner with much frost on the pumpkin.      HARVEST THE HUSKERS ! ! ! !
