Rye Resident in NY Times on #ENOUGH Student Protests
Retired high school teacher John Stafford of Rye had his letter on #ENOUGH and the student protests published in the New York Times.
In part:
"It’s heartening to see the energy, enthusiasm and idealism of our young people on full-throated display. It’s a shame, however, that some of the demonstrations had to be carried out “in defiance of school authorities,” as you report.
If they were really educators, school administrators would have encouraged (or led) their students in this protest, not opposed it…
I wonder what lesson the students learned from being told to remain silent."
