“Grooves R Us” will be performing a concert at Rye Town Park as part of the park’s “Twilight Tuesday” concert series. Well-known local drummer Tommy Giorgi serves as the band’s groove-maker. The 6-piece band serves up a combination of bebop, great rock, pop and light jazz standards with a generous helping of classic soul.
In addition to Mr. Giorgi, band members include: Bob Lammers – lead guitar; lead vocals; Bud Maltin – sax, keyboard, and vocals; Lily White, sax; Tim Downey – Bass, and vocals; and, Sue Downey – Rhythm Guitar, and vocals.
The concert will be held on Tuesday, June 19 at the park’s south pavilion, located by the beach near the Dearborn Avenue entrance to the park. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. Admission is free. Call for parking rates. Nearby residents are encouraged to walk.
Space in the pavilion will be set aside for dancing. All concerts will be held rain or shine, except in case of thunderstorms. Picnicking is welcome. Some seating will be available, but people are encouraged to bring blankets or beach chairs.
