Rye Driver OK After Totaling Car on Maine Roadway

Twenty one year old John Ryan of Rye is lucky to be unhurt after running off a road in Oxford Maine, totaling the van he was driving.

Oxford is about a one hour drive from Portland, Maine.

The Sun Journal of Lewiston, Maine carried the story:

Ryan of Rye crash

"A van lies beside King Street in Oxford late Tuesday afternoon after 21-year-old John C. Ryan of Rye, New York, fell asleep while driving. Oxford police Sgt. Rickie Jack said Ryan was headed north in the S-curves when he nodded off. The 2008 Toyota hit a ditch, took out a mailbox, went airborne and landed in tree and rocks. Ryan was shaken up and the van was demolished, he said. Jack was assisted by Oxford Patrolman Zachary Bisson and Oxford Fire and Rescue personnel."
