The Rye schools have 22 new faces – teachers and administrators – going into the new school year.
Today MyRye.com will introduce you to the six new faces in Rye High School. The rest of this week, we'll introduce you to the new teachers and administrators you will see across the system.

Kristen DiMatteo
Special Education
Ms. DiMatteo comes to RHS from the Union Square Academy for Health Science in New York City, where she was a special education teacher for grades 9-12. Previously, she was a U.S. History and Language Arts Special Educator at the Equality Charter School in Bronx, NY. Ms. DiMatteo has a B.A. in Psychology, an M.A. in Childhood Education, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Childhood Special Education, all from Adelphi University.
Clare Gilroy
Science/Special Education
Ms. Gilroy comes to Rye from Wallkill Senior High School in Wallkill, NY, where she served as a leave replacement biology teacher. She has also worked as a substitute teacher in the Clarkstown Central School District. Ms. Gilroy has a B.A. (cum laude) in Biology with a minor in Education from Binghamton University and an M.A. in Teaching for Biology from Binghamton University’s Graduate School of Education. She recently became certified to teach students with disabilities.
James Goldmann
English Language Arts
Mr. Goldman comes to RHS from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains where he was an English Language Arts teacher for the past six years. Previously, he was a First Grade Special Education Teacher’s Aide at Fox Meadow Elementary School in Scarsdale and a Homebound English Tutor in the Scarsdale Union Free School District. Mr. Goldmann has a B.S. in English from SUNY Oneonta and a Master of Education in Middle Childhood and Adolescence Education: English from Long Island University-Hudson.
Marissa Kroger
Biology/Chemistry
Ms. Kroger, previously a leave replacement Chemistry and Honors Living Environment teacher and Freshman Class Advisor at Rye High School, joins the School District as a Biology and Chemistry teacher. Prior to coming to Rye, she was a leave replacement science teacher in the Carmel Central School District. Ms. Kroger has a B.S. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Manhattan College and an M.S. in Education from Mercy College.
Drew Stierhoff
Social Studies
Mr. Stierhoff comes to Rye from the Newfield School District and the Watkins Glen Central School District, where he completed his student teaching. Mr. Stierhoff has a B.A. (cum laude) in Social Studies with a Teaching Option from Ithaca College.
Jennifer Turoff
Foreign Language (American Sign Language)
Ms. Turoff comes to RHS from the Red Hook and the Hyde Park Central School Districts in Dutchess County, NY, where she taught ASL and Deaf Studies to students grades 9-12. Ms. Turoff has a B.A. (cum laude) in Dance from Adelphi University and an M.S. in Education (Deaf Education) from CUNY Hunter. She is a Nationally Certified Sign Language Interpreter and has worked as an ASL Interpreter in the Hudson Valley area on a freelance basis since 1999.
