GARNET and OG

Saturday, October 12, 2019 Rye @ Harrison 1:30 PM

Oh how the worm has turned in this fierce rivalry with the HARRISON HUSKIES.

Since the ’03 doubleheader the Garnets have prevailed in 17 of the last 18 battles pushing Rye ahead by a count of 45-42-3 (.500). Harrison dominated the series in the ‘70s and ‘90s stashing a cushion of rivalry victories. It took Rye forty-three years to finally regain the upper hand – the first time since ‘74.

For ‘19 the Garnets are ranked at the top of Class A with the Maroon and White starting the campaign in the middle of the Class A pack, again quite middling for the once-proud Huskies. There’s a new head coach at HHS looking to leave his upset mark on the series starting right now. Returning to its rightful, traditional place on the schedule, “THE GAME” is the highlight Section One Rivalry contest extending back three generations over eight decades as it reaches its 91st renewal of Westchester’s Premier Football Rivalry Game.

Hey boys, it’s time to strap on the old leather helmet, cinch up the chinstrap and suck it up – you are representing generations of your communities in this one. “THE GAME” is for all the marbles, all the bragging rights. It’s the BIG ONE, unmatched in Westchester gridiron lore. Kick-off is thankfully slated for 1:30PM at McGuillicuddy. If you want prime seats arrive early, long before the clock starts on Westchester’s finest high school football game. Huskies howl, Garnets prowl.

HANG THE HUSKIES ! ! ! HANG THE HUSKIES ! ! ! HANG THE HUSKIES ! ! ! HANG THE HUSKIES
