The Rye school system has gotten the green light from powers in Albany to proceed with the renovation of the filed at Nugent Stadium, one of the early an high profile projects coming out of the recently approved $80 million school bond.

The work will commence immediately after graduation in the spring. Parents went berserk this fall when the school system announced the construction would start earlier in the spring and force graduation to move to the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, a favorite music venue for musicians over the years, including The Grateful Dead.

All school construction projects need to be approved by New York State authorities, a process that can take 42 weeks on average, according to the school district.
