No Official Reports of COVID-19 in Rye, Mayor Encourages Self Reporting

There are still no "official" reports of COVID-19 in Rye (see our earlier story of unconfirmed online reports).

"Official" numbers come from New York State. "Officially, our last formal info from the State is zero Rye City cases as of Fri night stats," County Exec and Rye Guy George Latimer told MyRye.com Sunday afternoon. "We won’t get formal numbers update again until Monday morning."

Formal numbers aside, Rye Mayor Josh Cohn issued update Sunday afternoon saying in part "The City is aware of a social media report of a case in Rye. This case has not been confirmed by the County Health Department." The update continued "The City of Rye is positioned to receive case reports from the County Department of Health, which in turn is coordinating with New York State. It is important that people who think they have been exposed to COVID-19 contact either State or County. Please call 866-588-0195 or 211 to self-report."
