Rye’s Declan Lavelle Named The Journal News/lohud Westchester/Putnam Player of the Year
A bit of good news…
Rye’s Declan Lavelle has been named The Journal News/lohud Westchester/Putnam Player of the Year. Lavelle is a three sport athlete who is headed to Fordham University to play baseball.
From LoHud:
“It started on a frozen backyard pond about age 2.
Hockey and Declan Lavelle have gone together since then.
More accurately, Lavelle and a lot of sports go together.
Creative, fierce, talented, clutch.
They’re apt adjectives for Lavelle, whether he’s looking for a receiver while on the run after escaping a closing pocket or setting up a batter to flail at his go-to curve ball.
And, of course, on the ice.
Lavelle will pitch next year for Fordham University, where he’s considering studying economics. But he’ll leave Rye as a Section 1 ice hockey champion and The Journal News/lohud Westchester/Putnam Player of the Year.”
Read the rest at LoHud. They also have a nice interview with him on his baseball work (although at least one person thinks he should be played by Nicolas Cage, not Christian Bale).
Oh yeah, a video too:
