Heard in Rye Lecture Thursday: High-Pressured Conveyor Belt of Education
The next Heard in Rye lecture Higher education: Are we getting it right? will be held online this Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 7pm and discuss the “high-pressured conveyor belt of education”.
The lecture is free, but registration is mandatory.
William Deresiewicz is the author of Excellent Sheep: The Miseducation of the American Elite and the Way to a Meaningful Life. He will speak about the high-pressured conveyor belt of education, how the demands for perfection impact our children, and how current trends in education have resulted in students who have lost the ability to think independently.
William encourages parents to take a deeper look at the value of higher education not merely as a pursuit of practical training but as an essential time for their children’s self-discovery.
You can register here. On the day of the event, you will receive the Zoom link by email.
