The local police, fire and department of public works unions have purchased over $10,000 in gift cards in order to support local Rye businesses. “We are always looking to help out our community,” said Rye Firefighter Max Billington, who came up with the idea. “We knew early on that businesses were going to take a hit and we figured this was a great way to help them get some money now so that they could keep going.”

The City of Rye PBA, Rye Professional Firefighters Local 2029 and the Department of Public Works union bought at least one $100 gift card from all the open restaurants in Rye. They also encouraged their memberships to each buy a $100 gift card from a place of their liking.

“We all serve our community each day,” said Rye Police Officer and City of Rye PBA President Gabe Caputo. “We felt we should help lead the way to give support directly to our commerce. It a terrible situation we are all in. Every little act helps get all of us through these times.”

We hope these men and women have a good appetite.
