The results are “unofficial” until the next board of education meeting on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.
If the budget had failed to pass, legally, there is currently not enough time to hold a second budget vote/board of education election before the school year ends on June 30. The law states that the school district must automatically go to a contingency budget. In the case of the RCSD, that would have necessitated a reduction to the 2020-21 budget of $1.8 million dollars.
