Introduction & Blessing of Rye FD’s New Engine 191
It’s not everyday you get a new firetruck. It can take 26 years.
This past Friday, the Rye Fire Department took delivery of the new Engine 191. And on Wednesday afternoon they introduced the truck to city council and staff. The shiny new rig also received a blessing from Rye Fire Department Chaplain Andrea Raynor.
Lieutenant John McDwyer said of the new engine 191 “we feel very comfortable it will meet Rye’s needs for the next twenty plus years”. Mayor Josh Cohn reminded the gathered crowd that Rye experienced three structure fires in the last year. Rye Fire Department Chief Dan Bocheccio Chief christened the new rig.
The new Seagrave Fire Apparatus replaces a 1994 Pierce stationed out of Rye FD headquarters on Locust Avenue. Hudson Valley Fire Equipment, LLC helped ready the rig and deliver it. The department is being trained on the rig and expects to place it into service Thursday evening or Friday.
