With many Rye residents only receiving their election ballots for the Rye City School District budget and board of education vote in the last few days, the school system is urging residents to drop their ballots off in-person versus placing them in the “erratic” U.S. mail system.

“Given the tight timeline and mailing delays, to ensure that your ballots arrive in time to be counted, we recommend dropping your completed ballot at the School District offices,” the schools said in an email. The ballots must arrive by this Tuesday, June 9th at 5pm.

Ballots can be dropped at the school district offices at 555 Theodore Fremd Avenue, Suite B101. Contactless drop-off is available via a lockbox in the vestibule. The vestibule drop-off box is available during office hours on weekdays: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. It is not available on weekends. This is per NY State election law.

We understand many Rye residents have received ballots for the annual school budget and trustee vote. Mail delivery has been somewhat erratic lately, so if you have not received a ballot, please reach out to District Clerk Lauren McGowan at 914-967-6100, ext. 6291, and she can help you obtain one.

Completed ballots must be received in the School District offices by Tuesday, June 9 at 5:00 PM in order to be counted. Given the tight timeline and mailing delays, to ensure that your ballots arrive in time to be counted, we recommend dropping your completed ballot at the School District offices at 555 Theodore Fremd Avenue, Suite B101. Contactless drop-off is available via a lockbox in the vestibule.
