Boys Varsity Soccer in 4-0 Win at Sleepy Hollow
On Tuesday, Boys Varsity Soccer moved their season to 3 wins and no losses, with a 4-0 win at Sleep Hollow.
“Michael Desmond made a great individual effort to beat two defenders and deposit a shot to the lower right corner to open up the scoring midway through the first half,” said Coach Jared Small. “Alex Vollbrecht was on the receiving end of a Luke Burnham feed up the left flank and intelligently chipped the keeper for the second goal. Midway through the second half, Desmond converted a penalty kick that was earned by a Zach Levitt slashing run in the box. In the closing minutes, Max van der Voort recorded his first varsity goal on an assist from Matt Capaldi.”
Sean Savage and Jack Formon formed the starting center back combination and were up to the challenge against a talented Sleepy Hollow attacking group. Ryan Wyckoff and Tommy Dore also made significant contributions to the win with Dore bringing pace and grit to the wing and Wyckoff providing a blend of physicality and technical skill to the center of the midfield. Philip Hovers, with 3 saves and an excellent presence off his line, recorded his third consecutive shutout to begin his varsity career.
