Infant in Car, Man Arrested for DWI

This past Sunday, October 11, 2020, at approximately 11:00pm, New York State Police stopped a vehicle on I-95 in Rye for a vehicle and traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, Chayane Alvarez, 32, of Bronx, NY, was found to be intoxicated while traveling with his 8-month-old child. The infant was turned over to a responsible party at the scene.

Alvarez was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP New Rochelle where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.12%. He was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Child in the Vehicle; a Class E Felony.

Alvarez was turned over to a sober third party with appearance tickets returnable to the City of Rye Court on October 30, 2020 at 9:00am.
