Pumpkin Carving Contest – Registration Opens Friday

The CDC says traditional Halloween activities can be high-risk for spreading viruses. And New York State may end up discouraging or banning trick or treating.

But one way to enjoy some ghoulish fun is to get competitive and carve your very best pumpkin design. Rye Rec is running a contest for K thru 8th grade, and you can register starting Friday. Our only question is why there is not an adult competition!

Pumpkin Carving Contest Rye Rec 2020

Divided into three grade levels (K-2, 3-5, & 6-8), carve your best pumpkin design for a chance to win a “Spooky Bucket” prize. Drop off your pumpkin at our Rye Rec Office (281 Midland Ave) for submission and we’ll place them along Midland Ave at Rye Rec Park.

As an added bonus, Rye Rec will light up all of the pumpkins on Friday night, October 30th, just in time for Halloween weekend. Make sure to come check out all the terrific pumpkin carvings. Further contest details to be emailed to participants upon signing up.

Cost: $10/child (Residents Only) Registration begins online this Friday, October 16th at 10:00am.
