Latimer Twice Weekly Briefing: (2 New, 50 Active) 340 COVID-19 Positives in Rye; 1,494 Westchester Resident Deaths – Thursday, November 19, 2020

For Thursday, Westchester reported a two new COVID cases in Rye. Here are all the City of Rye numbers:

340 total COVID-19 cases since inception;
50 active COVID-19 cases (this assumes the remaining 290 have run the average two week contagion cycle and are no longer active);
2 new COVID-19 cases.

Rye guy and Westchester County boss George Latimer held his twice weekly COVID-19 briefing on Thursday from White Plains along with Deputy Boss Ken Jenkins.

Latimer spoke about five new areas in Westchester receiving “Yellow Zone” designation by the State – all or parts of Yonkers, New Rochelle, Ossining, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow (in addition to the existing designation of Port Chester as “Orange”). He also reported that the County will reopen its Emergency Operations Center starting Friday in response to the rising COVID numbers. Initially the Emergency Operations Center will be open Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm. It allows for multiple agencies and private partners to coordinate response including agencies such as police, health and social services.

With the pick-up in COVID, Latimer has moved his COVID briefings to two times a week, Mondays and Thursdays. Next week, Thanksgiving week, the briefings will be on Monday and Wednesday.

Important to note expanded reporting now shows fatality data from all nursing homes in the State, including The Osborn in Rye.

Fatalities at Westchester nursing homes – The Osborn Home in Rye is reporting six (6) confirmed COVID-19 deaths and six (6) presumed COVID-19 deaths thru November 18th (that’s no new confirmed deaths since the prior update). There is no data from Rye Manor or Vienna Senior Housing.)
