Snow Ordinance Reminder Ahead of Expected Storm
With a winter storm warning in place starting Wednesday afternoon into Thursday, Rye PD is reminding residents of the City’s snow ordinance that prohibits street parking overnight and a second requirement that residents are expected to clear the sidewalks in front of their homes.
“The city Snow Ordinance is in effect which prohibits public street parking between the hours of 3am – 6am. This is especially important to assist public works during snow removal. The city clerk offers a monthly snow parking permit that allows overnight parking in the municipal car parks. Also, remember to clear sidewalks of snow within 24 hours after the storm passes to avoid a summons.”
The storm warning promises heavy snow with accumulations of 12 to 16 inches and winds gusting to 45 miles per hour.
