Obituary - Joan Kathyrn Bowler AngevineCary, North Carolina – Joan Kathyrn Bowler Angevine was born on February 6, 1935 in Rye, New York to Edward Bowler and Hazel Schmidt Bowler. She died on December 29, 2020.

She grew up near New York City and graduated from the University of Michigan. In Ann Arbor, Michigan she met and married Charles (Chuck) Angevine, her loving husband of 60 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Chuck, her parents, and her sister, Barbara. She is survived by their four married children: Dirk (Kate) of Denver, CO; Brad (Sandy) of Pelham, NY; David (Paula) of Cary, NC; and Susan (Brandon Mays) of Eagle, CO. She was the grandmother of seven wonderful grandchildren: Holly, Jake, Megan, Ruthie, Charlie, Evie and Phoebe.

Due to her husband’s career in the United States Foreign Service, Joan lived fifteen years overseas including Montreal, Islamabad, Manila and Tokyo. Joan loved music, singing and life itself. She sang in the following choral groups: Mamaroneck, New York High School chorus, the University of Michigan Concert Choir, the Cathedral Choral Society (Washington, DC), the Asia Minors (Manila, Philippines), the Japanese/American Women’s chorus (Tokyo, Japan), the Notables (Smith Mountain Lake, VA) and the Village Voices (Fearrington, NC). She helped start the Sound of Searstone Chorus at Searstone Retirement Community in Cary, NC.

She believed in helping others and volunteered over her lifetime with several organizations. If you wish to honor her, go out and do something to help others.
