12 New, 69 Active, 1,012 Total COVID-19 Positives in Rye; 1,976 Deaths in Westchester – Monday, February 8, 2021
Remember that Rye guy and Westchester County boss George Latimer moved his COVID-19 briefings from daily to now twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. So no briefing on the other weekdays, but we do expect to continue to post daily COVID-19 counts for Rye and Westchester County for the foreseeable future.
During his briefing Monday, Latimer said the County continues to see a decline in infection rates since mid-January, the two week mark after New Years. He addressed the long lines that occurred at the County Center after the County had to cancel scheduled vaccination days due to the snow storm, saying some people showed up without appointments thinking they could get vaccinated. “Do not show up – it [vaccinations] is not first come first serve,” said Latimer. He emphasized you must have an scheduled appointment for a vaccination.
For Monday, February 8, 2021, Westchester reported the following City of Rye numbers via the County COVID dashboard.
1,012 total COVID-19 cases since inception;
69 active COVID-19 cases (this assumes the remaining 943 have run the average two week contagion cycle and are no longer active);
12 new COVID-19 cases

Fatalities at Westchester nursing homes – The Osborn Home in Rye is reporting eight (8) confirmed COVID-19 nursing home deaths, two (2) COVID Confirmed Out of Facility Deaths of NH Residents (Hospital-Other), six (6) presumed COVID-19 nursing home deaths and one (1) COVID-19 adult care facility death and four (4) COVID Confirmed Out of Facility
