3 New, 62 Active, 1,062 Total COVID-19 Positives in Rye; 2,045 Deaths in Westchester – Friday, February 19, 2021
Remember that Rye guy and Westchester County boss George Latimer moved his COVID-19 briefings from daily to now twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays (this week the first briefing was on Tuesday since Monday was a holiday and the second update was today – Friday). So no briefing on the other weekdays, but we do expect to continue to post daily COVID-19 counts for Rye and Westchester County for the foreseeable future.
On Friday, Latimer said that 25% of all the county residents who have passed away from COVID-19 have died since Thanksgiving. “We have had a rapid increase in the number of fatalities since Thanksgiving Day. He also mentioned 121,939 county residents have received a first dose of the vaccine. The State has started to provide the County with vaccination numbers by zip code, and the county plans to begin sharing this information on Monday.
For Friday, February 19, 2021, Westchester reported the following City of Rye numbers via the County COVID dashboard.
1,062 total COVID-19 cases since inception;
62 active COVID-19 cases (this assumes the remaining 1,000 have run the average two week contagion cycle and are no longer active);
3 new COVID-19 cases
Just like everyone else, county executives look at the NY State COVID-19 tracker for county and state level statistics on the pandemic and at the NY State regional monitoring dashboard to see our progress towards reopening.
