Boys Varsity Hockey Melts in OT Versus Pelham in Season Opener
It was a hot ticket until overtime.
Rye Boys Varsity Hockey melted in OT at an away game versus Pelham. Tying the game 3-3 in regulation, the Garnets ultimately fell 3-4 against Pelham in the season opener.
“Rye tied the game on a Liam Hurley goal with 18.8 seconds left in the game to force overtime,” said Boys Varsity Hockey Coach Peter Thomas. “But Pelham scored the winning goal on a net front scramble with 35 seconds left in the OT after Rye was unable to break the puck out of its zone.”
Rye scorers were Trace Sculti 1 goal, Brendan O’Byrne 1 goal, Liam Hurley 1 goal & 1 assist, Drew DellaSalla 1 assist (1st varsity point), Tommy Richardson 1 assist (1st varsity point), Jackson Leahy 1 assist, Aidan Cunningham 1 assist, Liam Lavelle 1 assist. Goalie stats: Anabelle Thomas 36 saves.
