Remember that Rye guy and Westchester County boss George Latimer moved his COVID-19 briefings from daily to now twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. So no briefing on the other weekdays, but we do expect to continue to post daily COVID-19 counts for Rye and Westchester County for the foreseeable future.

For Thursday, April 22, 2021, Westchester reported the following City of Rye numbers via the County COVID dashboard.

1,410 total COVID-19 cases since inception;
43 active COVID-19 cases (this assumes the remaining 1,367 have run the average two week contagion cycle and are no longer active);
6 new COVID-19 cases

“(The numbers) continue to show a downward direction in the infections we are seeing in Westchester County,” said County boss Latimer. He appeared at the new CompostEd facility, located adjacent to the County’s Household-Material Recovery Facility (H-MRF) on the Valhalla Grasslands Campus, to cut the ribbon on the County’s new Compost & Education Center.

“As we celebrate Earth Day with the opening of the CompostEd facility, we continue to fulfill our commitment to divert food waste from the County’s waste stream. The first and best option is always to get excess food to those in need. When food rescue is not possible, County residents now have options to divert food scraps from the waste stream,” said Latimer.

Just like everyone else, county executives look at the NY State COVID-19 tracker for county and state level statistics on the pandemic and at the NY State regional  monitoring dashboard to see our progress towards reopening.
