Girls Varsity Swimming in Split Performance at Tri-Meet
Rye Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving swam a split performance at its tri-meet Monday night. The team delivered a win against Bronxville-Tuckahoe but fell to Sleepy Hollow-Hastings-Edgemont-Irvington.
In the Bronxville-Tuckahoe swim, it was 98-84 for Rye. Against Sleepy Hollow-Hastings-Edgemont-Irvington, it was 75 for Rye and 96 for the opposing team
“Junior Lente Geelen and sophomore Zoe Lien were able to pull out double victories in each of their individuals,” said Rye Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Coach Kelly Johanson. “Lente won the 200 free and 100 back. Zoe won the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke.”
Julie Tiedemann was second in the 500 by only a few seconds. The team was able to drop a lot of time in the 200 Medley relay and 400 Free relay. Now on the Section top 40 Rye is 16th in the 200 Medley, 7th in the 200 Free relay and 7th in the 400 Free relay. The team’s record moved to 1-2 for the season.
