Boys Varsity Tennis Puts Eastchester in the Hutch
Rye Boys Varsity Tennis put Eastchester in the hutch on Monday, 6-1.
“Watching the number one and two freshmen singles players come back from being a set down and winning super tiebreakers and showing their grit and tenacity was exciting!,” said Rye Boys Varsity Tennis Coach Sue Dickson. “The team rallied around them with support and enthusiasm building early team spirit.”
Rye and Eastchester had close match that had two regular set tiebreakers and three super tiebreakers. Freshman Nicolas Echlov had a great win as well 4-6, 6-4, (10-6). The team win was a great rebound following a tough match against perennial powerhouse Harrison High School. Young and inexperienced, this year, Rye is playing in a strong league, however, there is a lot of potential with this group.
The team’s record moves to 2-1. Eastchester was a non league match.
