Girls Varsity Track Falls Down to Harrison by a Nose

Rye Athletics GARNET file photoGirls Varsity Track fell down to Harrison on Tuesday by a nose 42-40 on Tuesday. It was the team’s first meet in close to two years.

“Cate Doyle won the 100 in a time of 13.5 while Sophia Shoemaker (freshman) won the 200 in 27.9,” said Girls Varsity Track Coach John McGee. Logan Brady won the shot as well as finishing second in the 100 hurdles.

Other meet highlights include:

  • Aine Kennedy won the 1500 in 5:49 in her 1st varsity race;
  • Cameron Bibas and Devon O’Donnell went 2-3 in the high jump;
  • The girls mile relay team won the final event of the meet in a time of 4:22 (Katie Coyne, Megyn Coyne, Devon O’Donnell, Cameron Bibas).

A small group of girls will compete in the Loucks Meet on Thursday and Saturday. The next dual meet is at Somers on Monday, May 10th.
