Pride Flag Raising Event & Walk Planned for Tuesday, June 1st
As Rye nears its very first Pride flag raising, events are coming together at Rye City Hall and around town to celebrate. Organizers plan to assemble at 5:00pm on Tuesday, June 1st on the Village Green in front of Rye City Hall. Once the flag is raised at City Hall, there will be a “Pride walk” from the Village Green to Rye Recreation where a second Pride flag will be raised.
“There will be speakers, and fun activities for the family,” pRYEde organizer Genevieve Weber told MyRye.com. “All are welcome to celebrate in this historic event!” Family friendly arts & crafts and music is being planned for the event.
On Wednesday, the pRYEde group’s four interns were busy delivering a new shipment of pRYEde lawn flags to locations across Rye, Rye Neck, Rye Brook and Port Chester. The group ordered 200 flags and has already pre-sold 75 – get ’em while they are hot.
Other flag raising events are being planned at Rye High School and Rye Town Park, details of which are forthcoming.
