Dear Mayor Cohn and Council Members,
It’s Stacy Koenig, — Evergreen, Rye. I am writing to let you know that I am in favor of a City Council resolution to raise the Pride flag in Rye. I am not in favor of spending $10,000 of taxpayer money to assess risk associated with first amendment rights. How are first amendment rights being affected? Pride flags will fly at all US embassies in the world, why is Rye holding out on something like this? Let’s let the LGBTQ community that we support them. This shouldn’t even be a discussion. There are always going to be people who are afraid of others who aren’t like them. We should not pander to these people and their ignorance. Fly the flag, please.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
Stacy Koenig
