Not on July 4th, But Fireworks Returns to Playland on Friday, July 9th
Playland is back in business. After opening this past Saturday for the first time since the pandemic, Playland saw 7,100 visitors on Saturday and 6,800 on Sunday. It was “a terrific opening weekend,” said Rye guy and County boss George Latimer.
There still won’t be fireworks on July 4th – maybe the County was concerned about the massive crowds – but fireworks will return on Friday, July 9, at 9:15 p.m. and then every Friday evening through September 3 with a final show on Sunday, September 5, at Playland Park in Rye. All shows start at 9:15 p.m.
“After being closed to the public for the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am excited to welcome thousands of people from all over Westchester County back to a Playland to gather for Friday night fireworks,” said Latimer. “It’s a summer tradition to cap off a day at the park with celebratory fireworks.”
