Rye Historical Society: Hands on History Camp for Kids
The Rye Historical Society will have its Hands-on-History Summer Camp again this summer for kids ages 7-13.
Kids can spend fun-filled weeks learning about everyday life in earlier time periods of history. Based at the Square house Museum on Purchase Street in Rye, the 2021 camp schedule runs Monday through Friday, 10:00 am – 2:30 pm from July 12th to July 23rd. Campers will experience what life was like in the past through exciting hands-on experiences, including storytelling, arts & crafts, games, foods, and artifact exploration.
– mostly outdoors, with days alternating between the Square House and Knapp House
– outdoor classroom under a tent at the Knapp House
– walking field trips all around Rye
– individual art kits for sketching and writing
– hands-on crafts
– independent projects
The dates and themes are:
July 12-16 (Native American Colonial History Camp)
July 19-23 (War History and the 1960s)
