Rye Little League 12U Comes Up Short in Game 2 at States
Despite strong pitching and defense, the Rye Little League 12U Tournament Team was stymied by effective pitching and lost 3-2 to Rotterdam-Carman (Schenectady) Wednesday morning, leaving them 1-1 and with a must-win game 3 on Friday.
Rotterdam threatened on offense throughout the game, making life difficult for pitchers Luke Ontaneda, Charlie Brady and Luke Scully. With the help of excellent defense and timely strikeouts, Rotterdam was only able to push single runs across in the 1st, 2nd and 4th innings.
Rye’s offense was led by Luke Ontaneda with a HR in the 2nd inning and a run scoring hit by Aidan Pymm in the 4th.
Tonight, the team is taking a break from the pressure-packed competition to watch the Rochester Red Wings AAA baseball Team. Thursday, Jamie Morris and Paul Heintz will represent Rye in the Little League Home Run Derby, and Rye hits the field again at 12:30pm on Friday against Colonie (Albany).
