As of 5pm Sunday, the City is asking residents to stay inside and off the roads and specifically avoid the streets and areas listed below. Rye PD is encouraging those that live near Blind Brook, particularly in Indian Village, to move vehicles to higher ground.
There is now a flash flood warning for Rye from the National Weather Service until 8:45am Monday.
Overnight, Henri’s primary path shifted East, alleviating the immediate area of the predicted wind and storm surge. However, we have experienced significant rainfall in the last few hours and it is expected to continue overnight. Localized flooding is now occurring. The following streets and areas should be avoided.
Indian Village
Kirby Lane South
Midland between Cottage Street and Peck
Highland Hall Parking lot
Forest Avenue in the vicinity of the Synagogue
Midland between Playland Parkway and Hillcrest
Playland Parkway under the Boston Post Road
Kirby North
Wappanocca Ave
Refrain from any unnecessary local travel until tomorrow morning. The City has begun closing certain streets with barricades due to flooding. If you live in these areas, please be aware of the closures and make appropriate arrangements for your cars. Do not attempt to drive through standing water or cross the barricades.
