Boys Varsity Soccer Blanks Byram Hills
Rye Boys Varsity Soccer blanked Byram Hills on Tuesday 3-0. The away win moves the team’s season to 2-1.
“John Sterkaj hit the game winning goal on a clean strike in the 44th minute,” said Rye Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Jared Small. “The goal came after Tommy Broderick created a scoring opportunity on the right wing and fed a pass into Zach Levitt, who ultimately found Sterkaj. Jack Childs and Michael Desmond added insurance tallies in the final few minutes to seal the win in a game that was 50/50 throughout.”
Philip Hovers made a key save in the 72nd minute off a Byram header to prevent what would have been the game tying goal. Ryan Kovacs, Sam Johnson, Ian Koford, Jonas van Beurden, and Jack Formon contributed strong defensive efforts on the backline.
The team plays Greeley Friday at 4:30pm. Watch it.
