Girls Varsity Soccer in a Stare Down with Eastchester
Rye Girls Varsity Soccer found itself in a stare down with Eastchester, ending scoreless in a 0-0 tie at the away game.
“(The team) battled to a 0 – 0 tie in their first league match against Eastchester. Rye had many opportunities to score but Eastchester’s goalie was stellar for the Eagles,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “With 15 seconds left in the half, Eastchester’s keeper had a diving save to deny Alex Verna the go ahead goal. Both Reilly Traynor and Isabel Harvey were solid in the back line for Rye, denying Eastchester any scoring opportunities.”
Rye’s Bell Jackson had six saves for the shut out. The season moves to 1-1.
Rye will have their home opener hosting Pelham at 7:00 pm Friday night at Nugent Stadium. Watch it here.
