Rye Girls Varsity Soccer sent Ardsley to the Saw Mill on Tuesday with a 2-1 win at the away game.

“Rye played tracked to Ardsley and played a very physical game on a smaller grass field,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Rich Savage. “Freshman Alli Koford opened up the scoring for Rye 18 minutes into the first half.”

On the start of the second half, Rye came out very strong moving the ball around Ardsley. Senior captain Hannah Bertisch threaded a ball to sophomore Paige Vanneck for the 2 – 0 lead. With 10 minutes left of the game, Ardsley found the back of the net from a 25 yard shot.

Isabel Harvey and Mary Sack tightened down the defense and help Rye keep pressure on Ardsley. With 5 minutes remaining, Annabelle Thomas was tackled by the Ardsley keeper who was awarded a yellow card that prevented a third goal for Rye.

The team record shifts to 4-1-1. Rye will host Harrison at 6:30pm Thursday night for their next league match – watch it here.
