  1. My mom has lived in the same home on Lynden Street in Rye for over sixty years. I remember growing up in that home that torrential downpours followed by flooding was extremely rare in Rye for decades. Then more recently the extreme flooding has become an almost regular event where it has reached the point where you would be plain crazy to buy a home in Indian Village or on Midland Street or other neighborhoods prone to the extreme flooding. The dentist’s office operated by Dr. Nitschke where he faithfully fed his cherished ducks over those earlier decades is now an abandoned shell.
How much longer before residents are forced to give up on Indian Village and these other neighborhoods as insurance gets too expensive and repairs are pointless?
