Where I Work: Rye Town Park’s Russ Gold
Where I Work showcases people who work in Rye. The feature is inspired in part by exploring how the pandemic has impacted our work environment and part by wanting to understand how and where people work inside the City of Rye. Today we meet Rye Town Park’s Director Russ Gold.
Do you know someone we should interview for Where I Work? Tell us!
Your Name: Russ Gold
Your Company: Rye Town Park
MyRye.com: What do you do?
Gold: Park Director
Where do you work?
Gold: My ‘office’ is 62 acres of beach and parkland on the LI Sound. I (unevenly) split my time between my office (20%) and all around the park & beach (80%).
Describe your desk and office.
Gold: My office is on the porch of a 112 yr. old building, which is on both the NYS & National Register of Historic Places.
I really like being surrounded by the exposed brick walls however, I could use some new windows so I could enjoy more natural light. My desk as you can see is “organized clutter” which has always been my M.O. My ‘other’ desk is for days when the park is quiet and serene.
Rye Town Park & Beach in my humble opinion is the crown jewel of the Sound Shore and should be recognized and supported as such by all our resident communities. My dedicated staff of 70+ seasonal employees led by Department Heads Jose, Mike, Mark & Sal deserve all the credit for keeping our patrons safe and happy during their visits here.
