Flash Flood Watch Monday Evening Through Tuesday Afternoon

Not what flood weary Rye wants to hear, the City has issued a “Code Red” message in regards to a flash flood watch:

This is a City of Rye Code Red Message.
FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH
TUESDAY AFTERNOON…
The Flash Flood Watch continues for Southeast New York, including Northern Westchester and Southern Westchester.

A rapidly developing low pressure system south of Long Island will likely produce heavy rainfall across the region. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts are possible. Rainfall rates may exceed one inch per hour at times.

Heavy rain may produce areas of flash flooding.

High tide on October 26th will be at 2:58 am and 2:55 pm.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should a Flash Flood Warning be issued. This should include moving vehicles and other property to a safe location. It is also important you develop your own Emergency Action plan for your household. In the event of an emergency please call 9 1 1. For non-emergency Police matters call 914-967-1234 extension “0”. Please be advised the Desk Officer will not have any information on specific Con Edison restoration times.
